Easy English Bible is a wonderful site full of great resources for both basic literacy students and English language learners. The website has been created by MissionAssist, which is a Christian charity based in the UK. It is part of the Wycliffe Global Alliance and a member of the Evangelical Alliance. On the Easy English Bible website you will find a complete on-line Bible in Easy English as well as many, many short, very easy to read Bible stories. which can be accessed by downloading them. They can then be printed and used with your student.
Here is a sample of a story from Mark 5:25-33. Jesus crossed to the other side of lake Galilee in a boat. He got out of the boat. A big crowd gathered round him. A woman who had been ill for twelve years was in the crowd. She had been to see lots of doctors. She had spent all her money. She wanted to get better. But she had got worse. There are also commentaries, Bible studies and even books translated into Easy English.

Thinking Maps are a great way to help our student develop thinking skills that will lead to increased reading comprehension skills which is the ultimate goal of reading - to fully understand what you read. Here is an YouTube playlist which will give you help in understanding and using Thinking Maps. As usual, begin small and build up. This playlist includes talking and writing skills extrapolated from the basic maps that are beyond the level of our students. So, use the methods presented here with discretion.
